Andrew Newman was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. At a young age, he realized that he had a passion for accounting and in 1986, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. After graduating, he worked in banking and retail for 10 years before becoming a CPA.
Upon entering public accounting, he worked with many clients in industries ranging from real estate to dot-com startups. During his first eight years with two regional accounting firms based in Redwood City, CA and Palo Alto, CA respectively - he provided both A&A (Assurance & Advisory) and tax services.
In 2001, Andrew founded Newman Associates - opening an office in Redwood City, CA. Since then, Newman Associates has been providing auditing services small to medium-sized business clients as well as tax services for individuals.
In addition to tax services, Newman Associates now focuses in two areas of auditing: (1) Auditing for-profit entities that receive government grant funding and require audits, and (2) Employee Benefit Plan auditing. Newman associates is licensed many states and performs approximately 15 audits per year.
Today, as the owner of Newman Associates, Andrew specializes in providing custom tax, audit and accounting services to small business and individuals. As a member of the Davis Chamber of Commerce, the Davis Downtown Business Association, the California Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s, Andrew believes that if the community embraces you and helps you thrive, you should in turn help them to thrive. He has been involved with local non-profits both as a volunteer and as a board member.
